Are You Too Early?
When the first sunny days of springy weather hit in late February, my husband and I began our longer nature walks. That day took us to a post-industrial site that has been transformed into a nature reserve. Well, almost...
The last time we were there, the birds flocking in one of the little lakes was deafening. That site is evidently on one of the paths of returning flocks. But on this late February afternoon, silence prevailed, and warm and sunny as it was, winged wildlife was unimpressed.
Yet.
Does your life feel that way? Feel like God is not ready to give you all the blessings you desire, your intercession for others, or the service you so long for?
Does this picture from nature match your life in Christ? Is it February in your spiritual life, and you expect August? The birds are still elsewhere, and your blessings have not yet flown near. The climate, plant life, and seasons have not synced yet.
Our God is above time. We are not. He may have already answered that yearning desire, but we haven't seen it yet. It just might be on the way, like the migrating birds still kilometers beyond our borders.
There is a cycle to it all, a season for everything under heaven, as we read in Ecclesiastes 3:1: There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.
So continue your wait in peace. Those birds need to feed, find that migratory path to your home, and build their nests. Can we rejoice in their return each year and not wait for our Lord's answers in faith?
