Sirga, the lioness and us
Have you seen Sirga, the lioness shorts on YouTube or Facebook feeds? If you haven't, do. Then let me ask a few questions.
How would you compare the relationship of Sirga and the man who is her handler or even friend/family as she sees him?
Now, how are those same factors also present in the relationship we have with God?
Think about it. We humans, are wild, true-to-life predators, living and hunting for our own way. But someone has come to love us as 'cubs', then raised, provided, and cared for us each day.
We, the little lions, hug our Lord each day, in our own way, caring for Him. He provides everything we could ever need: protection from dangers, food, health care, and above all, love.
We are tame, yet not tame. We could 'kill' the relationship if we wanted, but we do not. Sirga doesn't just tolerate that man, Valentin; she longs to be with him, if you believe the amazing online clips.
Sure, the lioness could probably 'manage' on her own in the wild now, well, as a grown lion. She is massive! But, for all her size, she could be tracked down by a wild lion pride as an 'outsider', not to mention the other dangers out there.
We, too, are outsiders in a very real way if we follow the way of our Provider. The world attacks us out there...
Far above us in every way, HE, the Lord, chooses to take care of us 24/7... as we allow Him. And we have come to love Him. To everything else, He provides freedom to come and go. That meaning of free will hits home in this context. It reminds me so much of this:
I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.
John 10:9Jesus, our Provider, has done everything to bring us into a relationship with God, totally depending on HIS care and love. Why would we ever leave Him? What more could we ever desire?
