What makes for a solid relationship?

Ask anybody. Their answer will likely be different from yours.

Is it liking the same hobbies and talking for hours about them?  Is it feeling good in the presence of the other? Or, mutual trust?

Not too many mention commitment.  If we are committed to each other, then that common ground we share can flourish, and that, despite all the differences, disagreements, and despair that may come and go in life.

How to describe the difference? Commitment does not give up, it does not demand its own, or betray its loved one. Time is no barrier, neither is place.

My best friend happens to be my husband. And he is the epitome of committed!  He is a saint to put up with me! And that for 42 years!

But because we are committed to each other, there is peace pervading both our lives, help in need, and a person to share the deepest of our thoughts.  That is a relationship, what marriage should be.

This mirrors another such relationship, a spiritual one.  HE, the Saviour, wants to always be there for us, ever with us, helping, strengthening.  Like my husband, time and place make no difference. This is the Friend and Family we have in Christ.

Those who know Him, know...

If you do not, reach out to Him! Get to know this loving Lord.  He will walk beside you, too!
