Beat back the heat!

Bare feet tell no lies. 

This time of year, no one walks far, or at least not at a leisurely pace, on lava-hot sand or pavements.  Hopping, skipping, and jumping onto grass or some other safer surface is the norm as children, the usual victims, soon learn. These areas bring pain to anyone treading on them!

Seldom do we consider that we are always moving about in a hothouse and on hot 'sand'. Everything we touch now is bound to burn us.  An unwary comment about politics, the latest trending news, etc., brings a hot reply.

Then there are soaring prices that burn through our resources, costly friendships that fry our nerves, and even the slow bake of discontent. It's a continuous summer of suffering in this world, a wilderness out of sync with what was intended and what we so desire. Oh, for an oasis of peace!

A cool swim, at such times, is heaven!  You know that relief?  Just a plunge into the pool,  lake, or river relieves the burden of heat; our skin cools, and we can breathe again.

There is a stream that does that for our burdened souls too...

Even in the heat of this worldly desert, those who seek HIM, his people, his chosen ones, will find water. A drink of the water he provides, a wade into its cooling depths, changes everything.

Start your day with a dive.  The Bible is full of 'living water,' as Jesus calls it, for one and for all who look to Him.  Spend time swimming in those promises.  When you come out again, the heat- that same heat- becomes bearable.

And do take some of that water with you!  You will need it!
