Not much to look at or admire, despised, and rejected, this so-called 'chosen one' suffered, he was familiar with pain in life.  So we badmouthed him at every turn, even thinking that God was punishing him in this life.

And yet, we were wrong!  It was He who bore OUR wrongs, He was crushed by God for our iniquities. And that punishment brought peace with God for us.  HIS wounds healed US!

We idiots are like aimless, helpless sheep that have wandered away. But God laid all our wrongs on HIM.

Recognize the last two sentences? Here is the original:

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.   Isaiah 53:6

Does that passage, in the version according to Rhonda, remind you of anyone you’ve heard about?

Do you realize this portrait of Christ was written hundreds of years before Jesus lived? God loves to reveal his plans to his prophets! (see Isaiah 42:9b)

Jesus knew. From the cross, death encroaching, Jesus saw the sheep we are and loved us anyway! Black sheep, wandering sheep, shorn-by-life sheep. He did not leave us alone in our sins but went through hell on earth to bring us eternal life in heaven.

So now? We who believe him follow, keeping close, answering his call, and resting in his protection and care. I don't know about you, but this sheep has learned her lesson and is sticking closer to the shepherd.

That is all done by faith. There is no way for a dumb sheep to earn anything.

So, speaking from one sheep to another.  Let’s go where he leads and share the news of his care with the lost ones!
