Mindless or Mindful?

How often do you go on 'autopilot?' You know the feeling of turning off you get when resting, when bored, anxious, and a myriad of other better and worse times during any normal day. You can finally switch off all the thinking and chill.
How long can you get by with that?
Did you notice the lions in the background where the kids are playing? Those represent the danger when we 'unplug.' When our mindful, aware life turns off, we can become mindless victims. We compromise, we indulge and then... wham! Suddenly, we wake up but notice a huge lion barreling down on us. A habit, an attitude, a sin. We are hit by failure. It may not happen at once but our lives can take a dramatic turn for the worse.
That unawareness is when we start wandering from our more wary daily routine. That's the shorter or longer time when we read, watch, and think about what we know we shouldn't. We eventually continue, slowly sliding into a mindless stupor. You know that feeling after rewatching a whole TV series? After scrolling through countless social media 'shorts?' (Been there, done that 😣)
Look up! See those lions? They are waiting for just one unaware moment. They represent the evil that lurks just outside our usually careful, mindful lives.
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:8It's no joke. Look up! Listen for the growls and return to aware self-discipline.
You a Christian? Find the Lord's strength! He wants to keep you!
