Old, and BOLD!
Calling all pensioners, almost pensioners, persons stuck at home by health limitations, and those ready for a life driven by purpose!
Nowadays, retirement can be a blessing! It's a time to do what I want at last. And, God willing, if health allows, it is also a new road of love and service, an expression of a talent, an exploration of this world, a discovery in learning, and much more.
I have been loving every moment!
There are several options we usually associate with being untied to a work schedule.
Travel is one of them, but it is not enough to satisfy. Travel with purpose, though, is. There are discoveries about life, God, and others to be gained out there.
"But my health doesn't let me out much..." you protest.
If you have just a bit of internet savvy, the world is at your door, knocking to come in. Sure, you'll need to guard that door, but what you let into your life can send you on journeys into every area of life.
For me, one of those journeys is helping others seek God online at our site. What a joy some of those conversations have been, and I'm terrible at conversation myself! Maybe you'd be interested too?
Learning is another -- the greatest of lifelong journeys. Topics are too many to tackle here, but we can scratch the surface of our interests.
Being in contact with loved ones is beyond easy now. Many of us live far from family, and the privilege of staying in touch at such a level is a first for our generation!
If we can be out and about, then nature has so much to offer. First in mind is the glory that it gives to our great, loving Creator/Engineer/Doctor/Designer God! Just being in nature and learning about it brings awe and joy in itself. Then, for some, that leads to art, photography, writing, and more.
So jump in, bold retired folk, and spend your time splashing about in the joy all around us.
And if suffering is part of life, the limitation you must bear... and it might be for you, then my wishes for you are that the people and nature around you bring you comfort and lift you to better thoughts! Boldly reach out to the loving arms of the Heavenly Father!
Being old/ill/handicapped/burdened/ or whatever else does not mean we cannot be bold!
