Get a new job? You invite others in and celebrate. Your work gives you chances to help others, so you chat with your friend about their needs. A windfall comes your way, and you find ways to give from the abundance you acquired.
That beautiful side of human nature kicks in, and quite unexpectedly, you begin to give—of yourself, of your gifts, of your belongings.
This is the blessing spiral. And it has an even more amazing spiritual side. Have a look!
May God be gracious to us, bless us, and make his face shine on us—so that your ways may be known on earth, and your salvation among all nations.
Psalm 67:1,2Our blessings are meant for more than us! They have a mission beyond! They reveal the love of God, His ways, and His salvation to even those who 'see' what He has done in our lives. Others, even those folk who are neutral toward faith, get blessed by:
- seeing His work in and for us and discovering how truly caring God is,
- watching Him answer prayers and bring solutions to problems,
- and realising there are 'too many' so-called coincidences going on,
- and much, much more...
The second wave of blessing? That comes from blessing others through care, giving, and service, and then the recipients giving glory back to God, the original blesser. The impression becomes greater the more pressing the need, especially for those who are outside the faith community.
What an upward spiral of love! Blessings leading to more blessings, both for us and those around us.
It takes one important step. We need to reveal these blessings and give credit where credit is due -- to our Lord! Are we sharing our bounty and its source with those around us?
