Threatened by the future...

You can't help but get depressed at the news.  Whether it's the climate, the media, AI advances, politics, or social norms, we often feel our pulses surge at the rollercoaster we are all on.

Don't let it.

"How to avoid it?" you ask.

One way around that at the first level is to avoid the worst, if you can, and listen only once. There have always been such news items, awful politicians, and madmen, so let it roll off your mind. The way of the world has not changed, unfortunately...

The second level is to take on board what is important locally.  If one of those news 'wildfires' is in your neck of the woods, you need to stay alert and listen for its progress.  If your government is about to pass a dire new law, you need to be alert and act if you can. The freedom we have allows us to choose to act. And so, here is a place to take a stand.

The deepest level is most important. But realise one thing. The news must get worse. Much worse.  Did you know that?

That is the future before Christ comes again, as outlined by the reality that the Bible paints.  So that means it has been the same news for thousands of years.  The man or woman who is in Christ has NOTHING to fear. We are secure in His care.  

So that means that even those who are bearing persecution for being a Christian will face no real loss; the neighbors who avoid listening to that Good News of salvation, THEY are the ones in danger- real danger. 

"Why?" you ask.

They treat as rubbish the love God has showered on humanity — the love that has come to save them from doom. And they turn their backs on it.

It is like refusing the lifeboat during a flood, refusing the cure when ill, always 'refusing' when a saving hand is offered. This is not my idea of a 'believer' who turns away from God; it's the Apostle Paul's:

So, how do you see the coming trials that seem to loom?  There are basically only two viewpoints.  Be very careful which one you choose... it is of eternal importance.
